When did you first learn to needlepoint, and who taught you?
I learned needlepoint when I was 14 years old during my freshman year at Deerfield Academy (I later started their Needlepoint Club!). My mom was a skilled needlepointer and taught me. Recently, I began a small project with my 9-year-old daughter, and she loves it too!
Who or what inspires your needlepoint work?
My family inspires me most. It brings me so much joy to work on a canvas knowing it will become something meaningful and useful like a belt, key chain, or coasters.
How would you describe your aesthetic?
Colorful, and all about the little details.
Where is your ideal stitching location?
By a pool or the ocean!
What inspired you to start designing needlepoint?
Design has always been a part of who I am, and designing needlepoint canvases with Lycette felt like a natural extension of the interior design work I do every day. Needlepoint and interiors both revolve around color, scale, pattern, and thoughtful details that make something feel special. I’m also endlessly curious and love learning new things, so I really enjoyed learning more about the technical side of canvas painting and understanding how scale translates into the designs.
